OVERVIEW

MOORING CHAIN INSPECTION REPLACEMENT AND INSTALLATION

          The visual inspections perform on all part of mooring chain. There is chain link, kenter shackle and connection point (chain part to wire part). Diver must be reported all condition of chain link. Visual survey include with marine growth survey.

        Diver report condition marine growth on chain link. Thickness and type of marine growth must be reported by diver and recorded by supervisor diver. Diver moving to selected mooring chain will be conduct chain link thickness measurement.

       Diver measure diameter thickness of chain link using venier caliper. Clean up furthermore the chosen eye using wire brush, especially on the MPI test area (see illustration beside) Diver moving to selected mooring chain to conduct chain angle measurement.

Diver put clinometers beside chain. Placed clinometers in line with chain. Steel protractor fixed position to chain.
