OVERVIEW
UNDERWATER INSPECTION
IN-LIEU OF DRY-DOCKING (UWILD)
Based
on regulation of Direktur Jenderal Perhubungan Laut No. HK.103/1/4/DJPL-14 about
Pelaksanaan Dock (Pelimbungan) Kapal Berbendera Indonesia, ship inspection can
be performed by the Under-Water Inspection In-Lieu of Dry-Docking (UWILD)
method, an inspection of the activity of the bottom of the ship without docking-up
to the shipyard. UWILD is an innovation-alternative to intermediate surveys
that can be performed on ships under 15 years old. In general, intermediate
surveys carried out by dry-docking system, in which ships are required to docking-up
to the shipyard and requires a long time. However, by using the UWILD method,
the ship don’t need docking-up to the shipyard, but the ship remains at sea and
inspected using under-water diving system. Various advantages gained in the
implementation UWILD obtained from the time faster, cheaper cost and commission
increased ship days. In practice, UWILD directly supervised by Class, either
Classification Agency Indonesia (BKI) and IACS Member, such as ABS, LR, BV, NK,
RINA, DNV GL, Aquamarine has been approved all IACS Member and local
