OVERVIEW



Non Destructive Testing (NDT) is the activity of the test or inspection of an object to detect defects, cracks, or other discontinuities without damaging the object that we test or inspection. Basically, this test is done to ensure that the materials we use are safe and have not passed damage tolerance. Plane material sought as much as possible not to fail (failure) during use. NDT carried out at least twice. First, during and at the end of the fabrication process, to determine an acceptable component after going through the stages of fabrication

Types of NDTs are: The application of NDT, including:

Ultrasonic Thickness (UT) Underwater Ultrasonic Measurement

This method usually we use to measure the thickness of the plate submerged vessel of Water (Underwater Thickness)


Magnetic Particle Testing

This method is typically used by us to identify the welded joints between the plates submerged vessel of water, if there is a crack in it. In addition, we apply to check welds on a jacket leg platform, which is of course to find a crack in it. The weakness of this method is only applicable to ferromagnetic material. In addition, the generated magnetic field should be perpendicular cracks area. Cracks This method is typically used to identify welded joints between the plates submerged vessel of water (on jacket legs, subsea structure, etc)


Eddy Current Testing

Eddy Current Testing has the same function with Magnetic Particle Testing, ie knowing crack in the weld joint. However, this method has the disadvantage can only be applied to a surface that is easily accessible because of the limited length of the cable and probe. In addition, this   method can only be applied to metallic materials only.


Liquid Penetrant Testing/Day Penetrant Testing

Liquid penetrant test method is the simplest method of NDT. This method is used to find defects in the exposed surface of the olid component, both metallic and non metallic, such as ceramic and plastic fiber. Through this method, defects in a material will be seen more clearly. The trick is to provide a light-colored liquid on the surface.


Buckleys Bathycorrometer









The Bathycorrometer@ is a well-proven inspection tool for measuring the levels of corrosion on sub-sea structures. Light and easy to use, this hand-held unit enables divers to obtain accurate readings of the corrosion potential levels of structures at the point of contact.
